UK Food Allergen Labeller is operated by METTLE STUDIO LTD. (Company number 09101770). This policy explains how UK Food Allergen Labeller handles data when you install and use the app on your Shopify store.

What data we collect

From merchants (you)

• Shopify session data: When you install UK Food Allergen Labeller, Shopify provides us with an access token and basic account information (shop domain, email). We store this because it is required for the app to work - without it, we cannot securely connect to your store or save your changes.
• Product-ingredient index: We maintain a local index that maps which ingredients are linked to which products. This contains only Shopify resource identifiers (GIDs) - no product names, descriptions, or prices.

From your customers (shoppers)

UK Food Allergen Labeller does not collect, store, or process any data from your customers. The allergen display on your storefront is rendered entirely by Shopify using metafield data, no requests are made to our servers when customers view your products.

Food and ingredient data

All ingredient, allergen, and product metafield data is stored on Shopify's infrastructure as metaobjects and metafields, governed by Shopify's Privacy Policy (opens in a new window). We do not maintain a separate copy of your food data.

How we use your data

• Session data is used solely to authenticate your access to the app.
• The product-ingredient index is used to efficiently recalculate allergen information when ingredient data changes.

We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data storage and security

Session data and the product-ingredient index are stored in a secure, encrypted database. All connections to the database are encrypted in transit via TLS.

What happens when you uninstall

When you uninstall UK Food Allergen Labeller, we automatically delete everything we hold about your store, your session data and the product-ingredient index are permanently removed from our systems.

The ingredient and allergen information you created while using the app is stored on Shopify, not on our servers. This data stays in your Shopify store after you uninstall, so you don't lose the work you've done. You can view and manage it in your Shopify admin under product metafields.

Shopify compliance webhooks

UK Food Allergen Labeller responds to all mandatory Shopify compliance webhooks:

• Customer data request: UK Food Allergen Labeller does not store customer data. We acknowledge the request and confirm no customer data is held.
• Customer data erasure: UK Food Allergen Labeller does not store customer data. No action is required.
• Shop data erasure: All session and index data for the shop is deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since UK Food Allergen Labeller stores minimal data (session tokens and resource identifiers), the most effective way to exercise these rights is to uninstall the app, which triggers automatic deletion.
